Traveling w/ Toddlers

Hey girlies summer is right around the corner so you know what that means right?! Schools is out and it is time to travel! So as exhausted as you may already be I know that you still want to get out of the house, go on a few adventures and take a few chances w/ the kiddos in toe. So why not?! Let's make this the summer of CHANGES and EXPERIENCES not only for ourselves but our children also. They to want to build on the time that you spend with one another as well as create new memories with you. what can I say they are like our BROKE BEST FRIENDS.

As you know I am a mother of two myself and I think it's extremely important to introduce travel to your children from a young age.

Introducing travel to toddlers can be beneficial in multiple ways. Here are a few reasons why it is important to do so:

  • Broadens their horizons: Travel exposes toddlers to new cultures, languages, and environments. This can help them develop a more open and accepting attitude towards different people and ways of life.

  • Boosts cognitive development: Toddlers are in a critical period of brain development, and travel can help stimulate their senses and encourage learning and exploration.

  • Enhances social skills: Traveling with a toddler can provide opportunities for social interaction, such as meeting new people, sharing experiences, and practicing social skills.

  • Increases adaptability: Travel can be unpredictable, and toddlers can learn to adapt to new situations and challenges. This can help them develop resilience and problem-solving skills.

  • Creates lasting memories: Traveling with toddlers can create special memories for the whole family, and may even inspire a love of travel that lasts a lifetime.

In summary mama, introducing travel to toddlers can have a positive impact on their development, social skills, adaptability, and can create lasting memories for the entire family but especially us.

Now for a few tips on how to make to make that travel EASY for everyone.

Traveling with toddlers can be challenging, but there are several tips and tricks that can make the experience more manageable for us moms. Here are a few:

  1. Lower your expectations mama. Accept that naps may be skipped, meltdowns may happen, and potty-training setbacks are possible.

  2. Pack smart and not hard. Bring plenty of snacks, drinks, and extra changes of clothes. Don't forget to bring toys, books, stuffed animals, or simple puzzles to keep them entertained.

  3. Schedule wisely and leave room for error within that beautiful well managed schedule. Try to schedule flights or travel during nap times, and allow extra time for unexpected delays.

  4. Book the right accommodations don't try to stuff too much into your travel schedule because you think your kids will be able to keep up with you RESPECTFULLY THEY CAN'T. Look for hotels or vacation rentals that offer kid-friendly amenities such as cribs, high chairs, and play areas.

  5. Keep your toddler happy with distractions and a ton of them. Bring a few wrapped new toys to keep them entertained, and consider downloading some favorite shows or movies on a tablet. Oh' and please dont forget headphones for the kiddos!

  6. Be prepared for airport security and another stops like potty breaks! luckily when it comes to TSA the kids won't have to do much like taking off their shoes. In the event that you have a older child make sure they wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off.

  7. Oh and and pack liquids and electronics in an easily accessible place. honestly its easier to bring empty bottles that you fill up once you get to the other side of TSA.

I hope these tips help you out in the same ways that they did for me because one less headache on travel day or the days leading up to it seems like a win to me.

QUICK REMINDER:

Mama your trip actually starts the second that you start packing! or the second you decide to BOOK the trip.

Be excited and open to the experience of traveling with your children.

Try not to get frustrated before it even starts because I promise you that all of the negativity that is floating around your head will ooze out onto the day unnecessarily.

keep in the back of your mind that no matter how unsuccessful or stressful a particular moment may be during this process it isn't EVERYTHING!
