What to expect when you’re expecting

Updated: Dec 12, 2021

Not too sure of what to expect during pregnancy? Dont worry "Silly Things" has your back!

Although you may not think so having a baby is a GROUP activity so lean on your GROUP! You will need them NOW more than ever for emotional and mental support.

When I got pregnant last year I was at a lost for words! I honestly did not know what to expect or how to feel. I was so excited because having a baby was something that I always wanted but by the time it had happened I was filled with so much anxiety that it was slightly unbearable.

Thanks to my awesome support system I was able to relax and take each day one at a time. This allowed me to embrace the pregnancy journey, and plan a bit better for the baby that was going to change my life forever.

How could anyone know what to expect when it comes to pregnancy or being a parent whether it is your first or fifth time. your moods flip, your body changes, people begin to treat you differently, and your world feels as if it is off of its axis.

If only I knew that at the start of the journey maybe I would have been easier on myself and everyone around me.

Here are some pointers that helped:

1. Remember that everyone's pregnancy journey is different and that is perfectly NORMAL

2. pregnancy isn't roses and rainbows for everyone! While some may enjoy the journey others find it to be exhausting and unbearable. Don't worry you are not alone.

3. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY... Even though you will feel like you are due to mood swings and emotional changes. Let's blame it on the hormones.

4. HUNGRY MUCH? It's to be expected. You may even have cravings for foods that you have not eaten in a long time. For me during both pregnancies that CRAVING was MEAT.

5. Packing on pounds? don't get discouraged. Not only are you carrying a baby that is surrounded by fluid but your eating more than usual which is to be expected. Just make sure your diet remains balanced and that you aren't doing too much SNACKING.

6. Feeling left out? DONT! realistically you won't be able to do everything that everyone else is doing Iike Clubbing, amusement parks, off-roading Just to name a few activities that I could not participate in due to pregnancy being a full time, 24hr job. Luckily this job is only a 9-month contract then back to regularly scheduled programming.

7. ARE YOU TIRED? make sure you get adequate amounts of rest. Once the baby comes you will wish you had.

8. You look good, you FEEL good! some days you will just want to stay in your pajamas even if you have a day full of errands but trust me when I say GET UP, GET SHOWERED AND GET DRESSED! HECK PUT ON SOME MAKEUP you will feel amazing and want to get out of the house.

9. GO ON DATES! You still need MAJOR amounts of attention. Make sure that you get it. Grab your bestfriends or significant other and go out and do something that you will enjoy. Have FUN, take a few pics or not! just remember to let loose and soak up all of the LOVE. PREGNANT GIRLS LIKE TO HAVE FUN TOO. "FOOD IS FUN, FUN IS FOOD"

10. GOLDEN RULE OF PREGNANCY: ZERO expectations are the best expectations to have. If you don't overwhelm yourself with what you think is SUPPOSED to happen you can save yourself some stress and sleepless nights. You will have plenty of those later on. TRUST ME.

Ultimately what's supposed to happen will. Just make sure you are mindful of all of your decisions and choices making sure that they are in the best interest of the baby and yourself.
